Ryan Hall's loss of form and poor racing could have a far simpler explanation than low T.
A few months ago I couldn't run due to extreme fatigue. Even a walk / jog was difficult. I found out that my magnesium level was extremely low by having a RBC magnesium test. Over 70% of the population is deficient in Mg. Overtraining [or stress generally] will severely deplete Mg. And Mg is needed for over 300 biochemical reactions within the body. Mg is not found in animal products. Most processed foods have little Mg. Within 2 weeks of Mg supplementation [3 grams daily] I felt much better and could resume training. And now after 6 weeks, I'm back at full training.
Overtraining will deplete all kinds of things in your body and lead to all kinds of deficiencies and long term problems. It will wear you down and break you until you can't run anymore, a la Hall.
People saying that Hall trained well and this breakdown of his whole body is normal, need to look at every other elite runner.
