You did them a valuable lesson. These kids need to understand that anybody who cares so little about their children that they would have 3 more than any reasonable person can care for is already a loser.

For real, this thread has some of the funniest posts I've read. Pink slips for moms - good shit!
That said, I ran a local HM a couple years ago and found myself racing to the line with the top woman. The guys at the finish pulled the tape for her across the whole line. I slowed down and let her break the tape. Didn't mind much - what's the difference in one second or one place at that point? It would have been funny though to just step in front at the last step and throw my arms up as I broke the tape.
If you're racing for the win, go all in, and don't feel bad for winning. Shoot, i'll be damn proud if I'm a father of 5 battling for the win in a local track meet.
I like the story about Mr Football above, as I've seen similar knuckleheads decide they should sprint for the finish just so they can break 25:00 at the local 5K charity run. Bad news.
Depends if he was a REAL MAN or not
I run with the top woman fairly frequently at local races, and I try to either pull away before the finish or let her ahead, to give some room for the inevitable website photo; it's very common for articles & websites to use photos of the top male and top female finishers.
This reminds me of a 3200m race from a duel meet in HS, I was a senior and there was this up and coming sophomore in the 3200m. His coaches didn't let him run anything else because they where Saving him to beat me in the 3200. I had previously did 3 events. It was cold(50ish), raining, and windy. My senior year I concentrated on The 800-1600 unlike my junior year where i focused on the 3200-1600 so I wasn't real enthusiastic about the race, I also had to win this race for us to win the meet.
So because of the weather I show up to the starting line in pants, my running shoes (no spikes) and a oversized white tee under my uniform top. My coaches where like "w-t-ef" I'm a little tired at this point so I start out REALLY slow and this kid gets a 250 meter lead on me 5.5 laps in, I slowly pick up the pace as he slows. All his teamates where cheering him on because he was about to win the meet and beat an undefeated runner in the conference. Well I slowly crept up and with 200 meters to go he had about 110m left and he was dying miserably and I broke into a mad dash and beat him at the line. I felt like a cocky a-hole and my coaches just shook their heads. My dad said that the other coaches where pissed at me and the he heard from another parent that the kids parents of whom I beat where also mad at me.
I guess what I did was disrespectful in some way.
But did they count you out, call you Jabroni, and all but force you to DROP THE HAMMER

Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
