Who from the NCAA is about to sign a contract? Who's gonna sign big and who are the surprise deals? Where is everyone headed?

From what I have been hearing.

Yorks $30k w/Nike and Bowerman
Kidder $25k w/ Brooks Beasts (teammate Cas)
Futsum $25k w/ NAZ Elite
Hoover $15k w/ NAZ Elite

I would bet that is relatively accurate.
OP is right about the haves and the have-nots. I have on pretty knowledge that Mac Fleet, Jordan Mcnamara, Ciarian O'Lianard, Tyler Mulder, Charles Jock, and Trevor Dunbar COMBINED don't add up to Wheating.

Why would wynn leave UVA early to sign for 25k? If Iwas the NCAA mile champ, no way would I leave anywhere early for anything less than what a college scholarship is worth?
I'd love to know how you got that info.

robertjohnson@letsrun.comGabe Gonzalez is not getting signed by anyone anytime soon.
You're pretty spot on with most of these. Amazed you didn't take a shot at Cheserek's $500K/year+ with NOP after his 5th year at Oregon (red-shirting next year to finalize citizenship).
And Yorks is signing with Brooks, not Nike.
This is the problem with the sport. Who said shoe companies, especially Nike, get to dictate what athletes earn? We are in a worldwide sport with greater opportunities than ever for athletes to be walking, talking, competing billboards and offer greater global marketing than any sport. Agents running to Nike every time they sign an athlete is 90% of the problem and just being lazy.
Athletes are being sold short every year because the agents are too lazy to think outside the box. Only a few athletes have meaningful deals that could sustain them a lifetime and going to a shoe company isn't the answer. I'm not saying don't get one I'm just suggesting that a shoe deal should reflect 20-30% of an athletes endorsements.

LOL, Where the hell are you getting these numbers? You just listed a bunch of NCAA champs with a lot of name recognition and trying to say they're gonna get sh!t base money.
People realize that person is just talking out of his ass, right?
Looks pretty accurate to me. Sorry to burst people's bubbles, but this is why salaries aren't listed because some of our very best live barely above poverty line and not much better than being on full scholarship!

It is $60,000+/year to attend Virginia and that doesn't include all the support like study tables, travel, equipment, travel budget, medical insurance, etc.
You sign early because if he doesn't run faster next year (he is a junior) or win an NCAA title, the fact is this may very well be the height of his earning potential to get him to 2020 Olympics.

If $25k is the height of his earning potential, he will NOT be running by 2020 unless he lives at home and has no bills without a full time job. So in that scenario he gets a full time job and isn't running by 2020 anyways.

Why bother?

Why would ANYBODY sign with Nike now, with the way Boris Berian is being treated? Only if they have no other options.

Because they pay more money
Each of your posts is dumber than the previous one.
And I am dumber for having read them
Why would anyone sacrifice their time, train their tails of and live like a monk for that kind of scratch? If those numbers are realistic, why would a person graduating with a marketable degree slice off a few years to train and see how far they can take themselves all the while diminishing the value of their degree. Undergrad degree plus four years of training then having to go back to school to update ones degree or grad school with no money leftover from their 2 to 4 years of training/racing. These athletes need far greater financial support to pursue their dreams and give Track and field fans someone to cheer for.
Gabe Jennings raced his senior year at Stanford after winning the trials as a junior. Signed with Nike in 2001-ish for a $20,000 salary. In 2006 he looked back and called himself a starving artist.

By today's standards it would be equivalent to a $27,000 salary, in Palo Alto mind you. Bottom line is distance running requires a lot of love.

Bannister trained to break 4 while in med school. Many others have done similarly. Living like a monk to train is a choice not a requirement.
