Question: Does he give it another shot? Or does he go 800 at the Trials where he has it?
Also why did they give him the check and say it was his first win out of college? Did I miss something? Did he sign? He just finished his junior year.

Flotrack are just a bunch of idiots. He's going back for his senior year.

Maybe they meant his first win that wasn't a collegiate race
Can't go back to NCAA bc he accepted money. He is an unsigned athlete now
That was a ballsy race, took the lead and made the race...so close to the "A."
Great guy.
He was decked in Nike shoes, Nike Socks, Nike semi-tights, Nike singlet. All of the rack looking stuff.
I'm not sure why some kids are allowed to wear their college gear in the summer, and others aren't?
Back in the day, everyone did if they wanted. Schools considered it one long track season for school record purposes until after the last meet of summer.

BREAKING: Clayton Murphy tells FloTrack that he has signed with an agent, has turned pro. No shoe contract yet. Interview to come.

He must be kicking himself so hard for coasting it in at NCAAs and missing the standard

rules changed. Athletes can accept money to cover experiences associated with training, which can be thousands of dollars. A uva guy won the collegiate race at monument ave 10k and was able to accept the prize money, still retaining his eligibility because that amount didn't meet or exceed his training expenses.
not until he cashes an actual check, dingus. I know this is probably news to you, but those oversize checks aren't actually real checks and...it wouldn't matter anyway, until he physically deposits in in the bank, he's NOT forgone his eligibility. Ostensibly, he could keep racing "pro," set his checks on his nightstand, and just not cash them for the next 5 months, then decide sometime in the fall whether or not he wants to mail all the checks back, or cash them and turn pro. completely acceptable, as long as he didn't sign an endorsement contract with shoe/clothing/other sponsor.
2/10 for your troll effort though, since i *did reply.
still no clue dude. wrote:

This check will be void if not cashed within 90 days.
He joins Philip Ingebrigtsen, Carson an Emmanuel in the "damn, so close to standard" group.

All it takes to make you a professional in the eyes of the NCAA is that you signed a deal with an agent (or a sponsor). The point is that you don't need a shoe contract, only a contract with an agent, then you're a pro.
He can get the standard at Nationals, in the final.

NCAA athletes can accept money and still be eligible. It's not a problem.
The race is up on FloTrack. Murphy was the only one to go with the rabbit. These races are hyped-up for the pro to chase the A standard, yet they let the rabbits go and race like wimps week after week.
Murphy's law?

Turning pro and finishing school are not mutually exclusive events.
