Does Nike still retain the right of first refusal if someone dares to sponsor their castaway?

who cares? why would nike care about the 40th best 1500 guy in america?
he looks he's homeless, and hasn't been relevant since he beat up on in babies and invalids in d3.

Harsh words for a 3:34/3:51 guy.
Who...?
Joke.
Looks like Nike screwed him too
Really? Looks like Leer screwed Nike by running slow
Where did he go to college?
Sad that he is so uneducated and complains about it. At least he now admits that he didn't read the contract and the reduction clauses have left him penniless in an Olympic year.
Totally sucks, but Nike is running a BUSINESS not a charity.
Actually, Nike screwed Leer by not honoring the terms of their own contract.

You are borderline illiterate, man. Seriously, your writing is BAD.
So how long will Brooks tolerate his post-race shit talking and blaming others for his inability to perform?
I hope less than a season. How this guy has a contract when there are better runners out there mystifies me.

100% agreed. I think he's running for a hot meal and clean sheets at this point in the ball game.
Interesting to note that the only photo in the last few months the Leer hasn't blurred out the Nike swooshes is one in which he is talking about what to look out for when signing a contract.

I'll bet Kobe, Tiger, and Lebron have no such reduction clause. If so, surely Tiger would be unsponsered now, right?
Of course I realize that the aforementioned athletes sell stuff whether they perform or not now, and just about no one knows a single distance runner.
Still, the runners are paid basically peanuts...the reduction clause just shouldn't be there.
Nike needs to save money, somewhere, to afford the next Steph Curry. Can't lose out on those $100million+, reduction-clause-free, contracts.
Steph Curry would never come back to Nike. Under Armour for life.
Not even a subtle attempt to block out the Nike swoosh on this one

The future is here, maybe the reduction clauses were not common before they will be now. As any in any profession and athletes now calling themselves professional or going pro, have to be held accountable in their role as a competitive athlete. You are paid to compete, plain and simple. If you are non competitive over a period of time, you are not doing your professional contracted job.Injury can play a part yes and is accounted for, but people slow down its a part of the game. The hardest thing for most athletes is to admit it and when they are told at contract negotiation time, you will be renewed at a lower amount compensatory to your ability today vs past history. Or your cut, we are putting our money into younger faster athletes. Its a bitter pill to swallow, pro's roll with it, some though are bitter and unwilling to accept the reality. We have seen a series of track&road athletes over the last few years become very public with anger towards the shoe companies about being cut.

They're common, but they vary from company and company and contract to contract in how generous or onerous they are. Contracts without reductions at all, for any length of time, are certainly uncommon.

I'll bet Kobe, .
Did you happen to see the kolossal Klanker fg% last year? He should have been giving some of his paycheck he was stealing from the Lakers to Nike.
