Oly standard is 13:25.
Oly Trials standard is 13:28.
Oly Trials field size for 5ks is 24.
So, USATF accepts everyone who has equaled/broken 13:28.
If fewer than 24 have the standard, then they go down the descending performance list to fill out the 24-runner field..
Most likely, Fisher's 13:30 will get him in.
Just as interesting, what will Fisher run at Jr Nats in 2 weeks? 1500? 5k? That should be more important since top-2 qualify for U20 World Champs mid-July.
Fisher won't make the Oly team but he certainly can make the U20 Worlds team.
Time to start checking the entries lists over at usatf.org.

So if Fisher races US Juniors and makes it in what ever distance, should he continue to train through July, go to world Juniors end of July, and how might that impact his/his teams cross country season? Long season, he then would need to take a long break and slowly get back into it.
Thoughts,
I think he should go to the trials so he can see Donavan Brazier race up close. That's going to be a heck of a race!

Hey Canada, Fishers 13:30 5km is a new Canadian U20 record. So is his 7:50 indoor 3km run earlier this year.
Would it count given he lives in the US and has run for the USA?
