Well done to Muir!!
Well done to Muir!!
Laura Muir what a gutsy run

Kiprop collapsed. Not easing up. Just not in 3:44 shape.
As good as Kiprop is, he's not as good as Morceli, Cram, and others. It's just a different era. Faster targets for the runners, better facilities, but no guarantee that all of the runners are better.
Laura Muir - Can i buy you a drink. What guts. She just went out iin what 62 and 207 in a mile and tried to run with Kipyegon.
My goodness. THey faded on the last lap but she made Kipyegon look vulnerable. That race should give Jenny Simpson and Rowbury some hope that Kipyegon can be beat.

The only meets that seem to have any atmosphere are those in the middle east...Rabat had people going crazy when Iguider won his race.
Since when was Morocco in the middle east?
Good run by Muir, but I must say that times weren't as fast as I expected based on 1500 m races earlier this season.
That being said, I don't think the KEnyans like the cool damp weather. I think it doesnt' faze the Brits or someone like Schippers who probably have horrible weather 9 months of out of the year.
more laura muir please
Disappointing mile races! Both leaders faded quite badly.
I don't think Kiprop was going easy-- he looked cooked.
Kipyegon cannot beat Genzebe. I think this race shows that.
As we watch the meet, we have an internal chat here at LetsRun.com. This made me laugh:
Weldon Johnson 3:58 PM
holy shit. i had no idea laura muir ran 3:58 last year
she split that here
how comes the brits don't play her up
I replied, "The Brits are understated."

no there not. they played up that girl who broke her leg in XC as the next paula (stephanie twell) for the longest time. muir is way better
Brits - why doesn't Muir get more publicity?
Looks like Grete Waitz's 4:26 mile national record went down by a fraction of a second. I'm sure the 4:00 1500 is the one to beat though.

i agree with spencer wrote:well i think they should do some sort of nike clause at races, you run slow and cowardice you dont get paid
it should for 1500m and up, you must hit such and such paces or you wont get paid.....i mean another way to look at being slow coward "comfort" zone lame ass tactical races is rigged boxing.....they dance around and hug each other for 10 rounds then finally start boxing, its lame
Wouldn't it make more sense to have just bonus according to time? There's nothing great about going out at a crazy pace and fading badly.
Time bonuses would probably be something meet directors would not agree to because it would make it impossible for them to budget for that event. If they gave a $5k bonus for every runner to break 13 min., their extra expense might be 0, 5k, or even 50k if 10 runners broke 13 min. If they pay according to place that's predictable and consistent.
You have to accept that it's the COMPETITORS that decide what goes in between the lines once the gun goes off. There can be all kinds of bonuses and pacemakers, but it's the guys in the race that decide what happens. People that only understand runners going all out from the gun don't really understand or appreciate the fine points of the sport. Imagine a crowd booing because there was no scoring in a baseball game because the pitcher was throwing a no-hitter and they were bored. Or a football team that wasn't throwing bombs on every play. OMG they're actually running the ball! OMG they're actually punting the ball! Why don't they try to score on every play instead of giving the other team the ball back?

Unbelievable from Muir, made Britain proud!
The men need to take note and go with Kiprop, put him under some pressure.

This was by far Kipyegon's worst mile/1500 race this season. I wouldn't count her out based on this.
your argument is flawed...if there was your said bonus and 10 people broke 13, would you not think that would be exciting?? it would draw more crowds and hopefully gain more media attention.
now about baseball, when its a no hitter your routing for the pitcher, he isnt out there lobbing underhand now that would be BORING, thats why beer drinking summer softball league is for AMATEURS
time bonuses should be there but the main one is you dont get your appearance fee unless you run say 70% of the race at a legit pace, why is that hard to comprehend?
We love white-skinned losers. Just don't win or we'll start calling you a drug cheat*.*unless you're super blue-collar like Paula or Ben

Have you ever looked at a map? Morrocco isn't in 'Middle East' at all.
