I'm shocked she got a 2 year ban after publicly admitting that she had been taking it and hadn't noticed the ban. In my view, everyone taking it should have been banned because it is a ped. But usually you get a lesser sentence when you come clean about it.
I reviewed the bulk of the "studies". Suspect study design, as well as results. The discussion thread is available somewhere on this forum. Most research was done in experimental animals, and not applicable to humans. The contention that the "drug" aids in blood flow is nonsense, the stated mechanism of action is dubious at best and untested using accepted scientific methodology. The studies do not appear to be peer reviewed, and are more of a marketing ploy by the maker of the "drug". In Russia the "drug" is used in congestive failure and to treat ischemia, neither of which a healthy athlete would have and in fact, if it was successful at treating both it would be in use here. A 2 year ban is stupid, as is Sharapova for taking it, and in particular, for not knowing it was banned to begin with.
