Hi guys, just chimed in to say I've changed my mind again, and RY now has my full support.
Coincidental that the embedded Advertisment on the page for me is trying to sell me on taking an RV Trip?
You spent too much time in this thread if the two posts at the top of this page amused you
The Brits have locked all threads on RY in their ultrarunning community facebook group
This the latest. Immediately locked. No one in the UK must say a single word against RY

Kip and it's not close. With all due respect to CB and a few others, the Kip thread was the original and created the LetsRun cheater feeding frenzy.
Um no. Letsrun has been catching cheaters for years. Here's a memorable one from 2003:
http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=182125The Kip, Rossi, and RY threads have been more epic though.
Couldn't be bothered reading that article when I realized how long it was, but straight away it confirmed one thing for me, ultra people are like masters runners, they take themselves waaaaaaay to seriously.

What a load of rubbish. It's pretty clear from the comments on his Facebook age, the page of the charity he is planning on doing the relay for, and the Facebook page you refer to above, that there is very little doubt among British people that he is a fraud. At least, among those people who even know who he is. The idea that he is some sort of hero in Britain that we all worship is a load of cobblers. Most runners won't even have heard of the bloke. He's a non-entity.
As for the thread you mention, the admin even refers to an existing thread and suggests people use that one, and says he is going to post the article link there. That is hardly shutting down criticism of RY.
That may be how YOU feel about him, but the majority of brits in the running community still wont say a word against him and he has hardly lost any facebook friends or followers to his page.
His page is full of people that hero worship him.
Outside of running, obviously no one has heard of him and he's a total nobody, but its the running world he wants celebrity from and he's got it.
Several threads were started about him in this group covering different aspects, and all were locked.
As soon as people started posting against him - LOCKED.
Most of his followers are fake, and if you look at the people posting messages of support for him on his Facebook page, it is the same very small number of people over and over again. In fact his Facebook page has gone very quiet and it is now possible to post negative stuff on there without being jumped on a called 'a hater' by his supporters, whereas a few weeks ago that wasn't the case. Support for him has all but dried up.
If you look at the Facebook page for run4peace2016, you'll see there are many messages which are negative towards RY. You are deluded if you think the majority of Brits in the running community won't say a word against him. Like I said, he's a non-entity as far as most are concerned.
How's that SKINS report coming along? Any news on that?
Not sure why you are asking me, but I thought I read somewhere (probably on this thread) that it was due to be published in September.

I thought it was a decent read - and am still laughing about Dustin and Robust response to Luz's questions about the day the TV got stuck: "we stand by our data. Don't contact us again."
That really says it all, doesn't it? They've had months to come up with an explanation for that one day and can't. What a bunch of idiots

Probably the best response, given that i doubt Laz knows anything at all about gps devices or data. He always said he wouldnt touch it.
Hope the investigation is taking ages as they are doing a decent job, but i doubt they are.

That is not to say that LR contributed nothing, the historical information dug up here during the transcon - wikipedia, facebook, past race results - was very damning of the character of RY.
After they released their "data", the LR Strava breakdown was also very good, but unfortunately can be dismissed as very shoddy datakeeping on the part of RY and crew, with the exception of a few shady clearly edited tracks. And the Strava stuff didn't hit until well after everyone has made their judgments - it simply sealed the deal that there was not ever going to be a release of data to prove anything they claimed.
Funny post from RY desperately trying to explain the data, lol
Marathonmanuk
actual running time and elapsed running time are 2 different things on the gps data - my running time might be a 2:40 marathon but with the elapsed time ie breaks etc during the running time might be 4 or 5 hours - which would mean my actual marathon time or half marathon time is much slower
I think we should be singled out for thanks. If the editors and Laz could go through this thread and find all the handles for people who made substantive contributions, and publish a special thanks with us named, that would be super helpful. I'd like to put it on my LinkedIn profile.

I seriously think that this would make a fantastic movie when all is said and done. Imagine a couple of bumbling morons freaking out inside an old RV while the internet circles over them. I was glued to my computer as well. I didn't get anything done for a week.
I was glued to this site as well. I stopped showering, eating, and shaving. I didn't get dressed or get out of the bed in the morning. My wife and family left me. I lost my job. I stopped paying bills. My car was repossessed. I was evicted from my apartment and had to go back and live in my mom's basement. Then I was chatting with some other LRCers and they said, "Welcome to the club!"

For a couple of weeks in June this marvellous thread was pretty much the internet for me.
It was a ball - about as good as a message board can get. If LR demanded registration it wouldn't have been half as much fun. Sure, the Geezers did the heavy lifting but everyone contributed. Some of the comedy was top drawer.
Just think how much better it would be if every time you refreshed the page you got a pop-up telling you to disable your ad block?
Inside sources tell me the upcoming Skins report is going to pin the blame on the Geezers -- ditching the Skins gear and running in an old dress shirt, plus destroying his shoes with a blade contributed to his demise. He would have done it if those old guys didn't interfere!
