No, you definitely have to do it consecutively. That's kind of the entire point. They mention at least once in the blog that they take pains to pick up exactly where they left off the previous day. If you didn't have to run the miles consecutively, why wouldn't you just run a few days in California, fly to New York, and do the rest on a flat loop?
