How do they fake the data when they are going uphill in the van between 5 and 5:55 mile pace at 7,000 feet?
the same Kipps who practises at the Putney Clinic, where Young gets his physio

The same clinic that has a page about 'Marathon Man UK' that was created on 15th April 2014 - amidst RY's first ever triple marathon! What a coincidence.

Unless... if you turn on satellite view, is the spot where he gets out grassy or sloped in a way that would make it difficult to run? Then he might go back behind the RV to get back onto the road to run.
Maybe he sits on the towel on the bumper, and jumps off when he sees a car approaching.
Or gets out of RV, and walks around the back to resume running when they see a car approching. They would be have been careful to avoid random dashcam footage of the RV and no runner. Not such a worry at night though. Don't be surprised if button hook activities disappear from Rob's strava account.
It looks like the kindle version of Rob's book is no longer available on Amazon? Did they pull it?
I'm looking for sources I can link to regarding his claims about his early marathons (for the blog). Does anyone have a (1) Kindle preview they can upload to the google doc or (2) Pictures from the book outlining some of his claims? Particularly, I'm interested in his supposed weight at the time and his claim of never having run a marathon before.

They weren't actual marathons. They were just 26 mile training runs that he claimed he ran, and he said they were marathons because he's special.

If I run a transcon and my team rents a sports car instead of an RV for the support vehicle does that make me an elite ultra-runner?
No, it makes you an idiot.

What does this mean? Is even this chutneyclinic in on the scam?
20:00 onwards, he claims he can run at 11kmph for 12 hours or more. One weekend he supposedly did 303 km in less than 46 hours. That's 189 miles, yet he only managed 147 miles on the treadmill in his Guernsey 48 hours effort.

Coming back to this: assuming "exquisite" wasn't an autocorrect of "excrutiating" (running form), would you please contact Lieberman again to ask what evidence was submitted to him for this assessment to be made? Did he actually meet RY, or see his running form in real time?
Ah yes, Professor Lieberman... the world renowned Vibram rep... Err, wait... I mean: "trusted, unbiased academic"
God... so much that was spawned from "Born to Run" was exaggerated or made up...

My hypothetical explanation is that the whole RY 'Marathon Man' story/persona was carefully planned and executed from the start, long before the purported 'first ever marathon'. RY was an experienced runner and triathlete, not an elite athlete, but he had dabbled in 'charity fundraising' before. He hatched a plan with his close friends and local contacts to acquire sponsorship, build the 'Marathon Man' persona starting with the astonishing triple marathon. It was a win win for companies that supported him and helped build this image.

Depending on your location, you can buy it as wel using Google Books.
Maybe Amazon just moved the book to the fiction department?
Is this thread dead?

No, it makes you an idiot.
You need an RV with a custom made cruise control that will hold a speed of around 7 mph. Unfortunately the SKINS RV didn't have this option and the crew thought 9 to 11 mph was close enough. Then, if you don't want to appear an idiot, get out of the RV at regular intervals and walk.
BTW, a closer look at Rob's morning run out of Las Animas. If you have Strava zoom in on the track. It shows Rob running very smoothly on the right side of the road for 5k (in 18:20) before slowing to the zig zagging all over the road walking that laz reported.
http://i.imgur.com/dtjz86R.jpgDoesn't seem to be available on google books either. No e-book anywhere.
Does anyone have a copy? What about a copy of the preview? I'm tempted to buy a physical copy just so we have a record.

I bet he gets a sunburn too.
He actually already has a tan, a six-pack, and is rail thin because he runs 100 mpw and actually CAN run a 14:xx 5k. Walmsley was a DI steepler at USAF academy. He was actually 30 mins ahead of record pace and an hour ahead of his chaser before he got swept down a river and missed a turn, getting lost, and walked the last 5 miles to finish in 19th.
Robert Young is a hero for running so far and dealing with all the exasperated haters. I bet you people would hop in and ride the RV if you had to get across the country. But Rob's journey was 100% legitimate and he provided adequate documentation (Guinness approved). He is a completely honest man and would never lie. He takes good care of his children and he contributes to charity in a spectacular manner. Kudos to Dustin and Mike for helping throughout the journey. I am completely gutted for Rob that he could not finish and he is certainly an inspiration to all.

Nice work guys! Seriously, this is the smoking gun.
The multiple straight line runs with consistent pacing are so incredibly damning. Up to this point RY still had an out since there was no definitive, stand up in court proof. I still can't believe TeamRY released this. This shows how completely ignorant, just godawful stupid they are. All the planning that went into creating MarathonmanUK mystic/superman myth/charity scam for RY to travel the world for free and they blow it by not understanding how GPS tracking works.
Again, thanks and good work!
I've got one too wrote:
When you say original do you mean NOT the Runner 2 (cardio)? Not sure when v2 came out tbh but its the one I have.
But again, how exactly did you turn HR off? to the best of my knowledge this isn't configurable. What menu options did you have to go into?
Every session I've done I'm sure the HR lockin and display beats the GPS lockin.
Yeah, I mean not the runner 2. You go "down", "down", right, right to turn the HR on or off, and i keep it off until i want to turn it on.

I remember a hobby jogger friend of mine getting super excited after watching Dane speak at an event. She returned home with a signed copy of his book of course. I read the opening pages and I was done. There was a similar super hero story about him going for a massive long run out of nowhere and then repeating and ta-na! a super ultra runner is born. Dane's claims were much more believable of course but my point is Rob replicated the narrative to demonstrate he has super human abilities and can endure any associated pain because was abused. Low quality used car salesman with no documentation to back up his product.
