I don't know about that. Lance Armstrong succeeded for 7 years straight and is still pretty rich from all his sponsorships and speaking fees at "charities". The lesson that Rob should be teaching to kids is that if you cheat, cheat with your full ass.
And do a better job of it! They could have done some research, for instance watching the documentaries of multi-day ultra events and seeing just how badly the runners are hurting. They are not juggling, doing handstands, dancing with little girls, and playing soccer. They are miserable and too tired to do anything but sleep. And didn't they think to get Rob sunburned during the western part? He ran through California, Arizona, Nevada, and New Mexico without a sunburn? Then he suddenly gets a sunburn when Laz shows up? They should have at least had Rob ride a bike. He'd have a sunburn, and the paces would be more believable.
The insulting part isn't that they cheated. It's that they did such a bad job of it.
