First, I should clear the air. I'm not a doctor, just a nurse practicioner (whatever that means). This British guy who came in last night, however, insisted on calling me "Doc." He said see was trying to set some kind of record and had a lot fans on Facebook and a website called letsrun, so I Googled him while he was waiting. I hope he's not disappointed when he finds out that he doesn't have any fans here.
Anyway, he was complaining about his foot hurting and being a wierd color. He insisted it was broken and infected. So we took some pictures of it and turns out it wasn't broken. His friend, Justin?, then proceeded to drop a huge binder (turns out it was their "log book") on his toe. Well this did end up breaking it. As for the weird color of his toe, he said he had been borrowing socks from some old guy named Raz? Anyway, he didn't actually have an infection, just whatever had been stored in those socks before rubbed off onto his feet. If he took a proper shower, it would come right off.
As far as the prescriptions go, he thinks I have him some thing for the pain and infection. Really I have him some drugs that are for our patients that aren't quite right between the ears. I am hoping his "friends" convince him to stop this running nonsense as it seems very likely to lead to his death.
