That's enough of this for me tonight, gotta sleep. Whatever else, this thing is absolutely fascinating and gripping.
No it doesn't.
For one month he is doing an average of 70 miles per day, is happy and goes on sightseeing trips.
Ones Asher Delmott points out his RV driving without him running, his speed drops below 50miles/day
Now he struggles a long and has time for nothing. Last midnight - midnight ET split 35 miles.
You have to think that he started running just a good week ago. If he would have run at least 40 miles a day with some driving, he would have already figured out his foot issue.
It's not like 40 miles a day is a very easy thing to do.

Ever had the feeling that something went way over your head?
This originally blew up in the Rossi thread.

POD
page 115 on tells us that there is credibility that the RV stuck in the sand to poolside day was made of whole cloth.
We find out Young is now actually running and managing to do about half of what he was before the Asher moment.
The trek has taken it's toll and yesterday the high point of his day was living thru both an episode of fall asleep while having his Carlin peas porridge and a roadside face plant that drew blood.
We have realized Team RY is at best inept and planning for both the Guinness attempt and the trip itself lacked even junior high school level planning and forethought.
We also might have found out that you can walk into a roadside bar in mid-American at 2 AM dressed in ninja black, tell them you are running across American, lost or misplaced your 30something foot RV and do not have a quarter for the phone-- and people will believe you.
To my surprise I learned that desk clerks in chain motels in middle America will let you and your 5 buddies have a free short-time multi-towel group shower stay in their motels if you have a dirty RV with a flag outside and a story about running across America to aid children.
No one should be allowed to post on LRC unless they have done the gator in a toga.
RY's crew tracks him from break to break (not necessarily 24 hours); Team Geezer tracks him from midnight to midnight.
I have been tracking him by state, if you're interested in a different way.
He crossed the state line to Indiana at 1:53am on Wednesday.
As of this posting, he's been in Indiana for 41 hours and has traveled about 82 miles-- basically, 2 mph. As of yesterday, he needs to be traveling 2.3 mph to get the record, and that number will go up every day that he falls short.
To "catch up" to what he's fallen behind on since he entered Indiana he would need to put in 30 more miles before 2:00 this morning. To stay on his current 2mph pace he needs to put in 14 more miles before that time.

I'm not bashing but a few people sure have. In my opinion the "quietly wait and see what the data shows" approach is not the way to go. If the running community allows a run like this to conclude in Times Square and get press without any scrutiny we'd let him take his glory and fame. It is just like a drug cheat taking an Olympic medal.
Diana Nyad's Cuba swim was meticulously documented. Documentation of this type of run/record should, frankly, be similar.
In 1978 Walter Poenisch became the first person to swim from Cuba to the US. He did this well before Diana, but his swim was disputed and disregarded by Diana and others.
It just goes to show you what seems to meticulous may be missing a few details.
Here's an article about Walter that you might find very interesting:

This must objectively be the lamest post of the thread. 15 minutes without anyone replying! This thread is going downhill.
Or is there a problem with lrc? I can only see the page numbers when I get here. Then I have to click a page to see the posts...

Too soon?
RY came back with determination today.
I was really doubtful that he could recover from the bloodbath that was yesterday.
his recuperative powers are as advertised. remarkable.
this is an important trait for a multiday runner to possess.
he had a good session before his midnight rest break.
altho he came out of his midnight break sluggish,
and stopped again for several hours before sunup
(a struggle for the geezer team to stay alert)
at that point, I was doing the math to see when it would be over.
but RY was not over.
he came out and walked for a while.
then he started to run.
and run.
and run.
just like his 60 mile day a couple of days ago,
he got into a good, steady multiday pace,
and ate up the miles.
to clarify my remark yesterday about pulling the plug.
there is a lot of difference between having someone who is entered in a race,
and someone who is doing a solo run of their own device.
the decision to go on or not,
was up to him and his crew.
the race director must hew to a much stricter standard.
RY ran past the early stopping time of yesterday,
still looking strong.
he ran all the way thru to the time he normally returns from his big break...
to my knowledge, he is still out there, now.
pushing on.
I am just guessing.
because I have no insight into the workings of his mind.
but I think he is responding to all of his critics.
maybe even those who believed he was at the end.
he was out to produce a big day.
and he produced it.
still, i hope when the miles per hour gets too low,
he will rest again.
that huge effort only trimmed a half a mile off his required daily mileage.
this war will not be won in a single day.
he has to have a big day every day.

We broke the forum with so many posts in one thread. The thread link won't go to the last page unless you click on the last page number.
This is a running site, why is there so much humor on it?
The RV is stopped again. They took a big break, went about a mile and a half, and have been stopped again for the last hour. If he really pushed that hard to put in a big day, he may be paying for it now. They've been in Indianapolis for a loooong time.

I'm not bashing Laz, as his "team" are the only people to step up and check up on this fiasco - but, as an observation - if the people who are watching him don't know if he's out there still running?? Um, really? Isn't that when Rob can hop onto the RV and let the RV put in some extra miles?
Well, whatever. The ease with which someone can accurately record their run and post evidence to the whole world makes this cluster fvck of a run just a joke. There is only one rational reason it's this hard to keep track of the guy.

Rojo and Wejo should fire up the Death Mobile and try and intercept this parade of ultra guys.
Show me where in the data you see 50 miles at that pace. Exaggerations like this are ruining the thread.
