On that occasion, approaching Emporia, Rob had been running behind the vehicle, which is normal for us. We often drive at a set speed while Rob tucks in behind the vehicle. When he wants us to slow down and stop he flashes his torch.
On a number of occasions, maybe 5 in total on this journey, the driver has failed to notice this signal to stop. The result? Rob is left stranded and the RV continues on assuming Rob to be back there running. This was what happened in Emporia. Michael, who was driving, was only alerted to the fact that he had lost Rob when Rob, borrowing a phone from a stranger in a bar in Emporia, called Michael to tell him. We even have the phone numbers of the stranger and the barmaid there if required to support this explanation.
The accuser then went to the trouble of getting CCTV footage from that night, from a local gas station, in order to back up his claim of impropriety. His post of the RV cruising slowly past without Rob in sight was supposedly proof that Rob was in the RV, rolling towards NYC without running those miles. If only the individual had the courage to stop our vehicle to find out for himself instead of being so furtive. I know Michael would have appreciated finding out that he had lost Rob and the individual could have learned the truth and seen it with his own eyes.
We have since contacted that gas station and asked them to help us clear Rob's name by showing us the footage following the RV passing by. We knew Rob would come by a few minutes after, which, as you can see by the footage here, he does, some 9 minutes after the RV had passed by. It's dark but it is clearly Rob walking by, with his torch visible in his hand.
This should finally put this question to rest. It has taken us considerable time and trouble to do this and all while we really wanted to focus on supporting Rob's superhuman efforts to break an incredible record. We will be happy to respond to any other queries after Rob reaches NYC but not before. We have lots and lots of data etc to prove Rob is doing everything in the right way. If and when he claims a record it will be backed up by huge amounts of data that will leave nothing in doubt - including many independent witnesses, such as ultrarunners Ruben Cantu, The Foxy Moxies, Nancy Bennett, Gary Cantrell, Bill Schultz, to name but a few.

A few others involved in this fake are Vanessa and Shacky who gave up their non jobs for years to "crew" the "Race Across The Usa" runners last year. Vanessa is a successful author. So much so that she sets up go fund me accounts for gas money during the fake "Race across the Usa" (for the children)! Others part of this fake, the aforementioned by others Alex Ramsey, Jup Brown, (he needs your money for a go fund me for a flight home after taking time off his not having a job and doing the fake "Race Across the Usa" last year for the fake 100 mile club charity for the children! last year), and Patrick Sweeny among others.
Fake American charity 2 on this one scam. Tyler Robinson Foundation. The same charity Lisa Smith Batchen (mentally ill and has paid her bills her whole life by scams such as the fake badwater quad she never ran among others), was going to do her transcon for this year "for the children"! Until she got caught on her transcon a less than a week in. Oops, I mean had a "medical emergency." So brave. Here's some more reality for you: Lisa originally claimed she was doing her (fake), transcon this year for a legitimate charity, except they didn't know she was using their name. She gave interviews they were partners. They had no idea. That is the level of crazy here. She was setting up a website using their logo but directing to external donation site (her, even though that legitimate charity has huge legal and legitimate full time dedicated fundraising departments). The legitimate charity got tipped off. Ready for more crazy? Lisa went into panic mode and flew unannounced to their headquarters across the country sure she could manipulate them into letting her use their name. She'd already given interviews they were partners. They gave her a tour and got her out of there. They told her no. She continued to try to use their name even after that, (people in the usa are well aware of her mental illness, faked runs, she needed a charity to try to legitimize her fake transcon). Legitimate charity stopped her, after she kept trying to attach her name to theirs well after they her no. At that point she started her posts about "God testing her" on her facebook page (run the nation with lisa smith batchen), soon after, (because they wouldn't let her use a fake run with no gps and no tracking of donation dollars going to her under her name and once they figured out her mental illness that is "God testing her"). Enter Lisa's high school pal jimmy place of chicago who fancies himself quite a media mogul with his production company no one legitimate has ever heard of who volunteers for "tyler robinson foundation" to get them to let Lisa use their name (the new cause she is "passionate about" in days), to try to make her transcon look legitimate. She got caught in less than a week on the road. Now RY's biggest supporter until yesterday when she tried to put some distance, (no we aren't affiliated so we can set up our next scam).
Lots of other grifters and other fake charities as a smokescreen tied to the same core group of people. This is how these people make a living (and destroy the sport). Also, quite possible vanessa couldn't keep up with a hobby jogger even on a bike, she is a larger lady.

I wonder if the actual man in black with a cell phone in the video could somehow be tracked down. The population of Emporia is only 522. Maybe post an article in the local paper about Robert Young's run, along with a screen cap of the man in black.

Because immediately after this fiasco, the pace picks up to 6:15 for the next 15.3 miles heading east out of Emporia towards Lebo. Either they dropped him again (off the back of the van-where he wasn't present in the original video), or he found quite the second wind after the walking bit in Emporium.

The tracker slows down when they reach Lebo, then they apparently sleep just East of Lebo.

If they've only left him ~5 times, that hurts their case. The tracker has all kinds of instances of him running paces we don't suspect he can do.

Don't forget, they have verified in their account to runners world that Rob was with the RV at Lebo (the intesection of Fauna and Old Highway 50) because that is where they were afraid of me as I ran up from behind.

If the RV did not slow down again between Emporia and Lebo (after it looped back for Rob), then he MUST be going the same pace as the RV over the distance from Emporia to Lebo in order to be with the RV when I run up behind it.
