And if he's shown to be running legitimately will there be any consequences for the people hiding behind their fake names and accusing him of cheating before he's even finished the thing. In guessing not.

Throwing out this question: what is a fitting punishement for his alleged 'crimes' here?
Ok we site back for now and let all the evidence (or lack of) come in, be analyzed and verdicts reached. If it becomes clear beyond reasonable doubt that his claims of completing this (with or without achiveing the record) are proven false then what will actually happen?
Will he be allowed to continue with his status of being a hero and champion of childrens charities cheered on by his many fans on facebook?
Will he be allowed to continue to claim his previous records ie. sub 31 10K etc?
Will he continue to profit directly from his book sales even if he is exposed as a fraud?
Will he be ostracised from the running community?
Will he be ostracised from the charity community?
Will he be ostracised from the general public at large?
Here's a question to you all. IF he turns out not to be guilty, then what will you all do to repair his reputation which you have spent the last week completely destroying????
Consequences?
How about Rob shares the scintillating details about his pro cycling career for his next book of fiction.
So, it seems that there is video of Rob running by the car wash...stay tuned, haters
I'm just bummed because I've gotten so old and slow that I can't set my 10K PR even if I only run 7K now.

Does he have any hilly regions to negotiate before new york?
That will depend if you, or he, considers Appalachia hilly. If the man was able to climb to Flagstaff at better than a 7-pace, then getting over the Appalachian range shouldn't be too dreadful - the climbs are steep, but much shorter.

It's about 11:35 PM Central time, and RY's tracker has covered 19.9 miles in the past 5+ hours since he started this afternoon between 4-4:30. So not quite 4 MPH for this stretch.
And now it's 8:00 AM Central time, the following morning. RY's tracker had been parked last night since midnight just west of Greenville. When I went to bed they were still not moving at nearly 1 AM. Now it is 7 hours later and they appear to have covered another 20 miles in the night. I don't know what time they resumed moving, but if it were 1:00 AM then this segment was dome at 2.86 MPH.
As RY's tracker crosses highway 51 in Vandalia it will have covered 42 miles in the previous 16 hours, for a moving average of 2.625 MPH.
So, there might be video of him jogging by a car wash. So what? Is there video of him running that section out in the west at new marathon PB pace?
Post that when you get it . . .

Per his web site route - he will be getting into some good hilly regions in Eastern Ohio. He will hit the some eastern mountains as he gets deeper in to PA. Nothing like out west but it should be fairly daunting if he is truly running.
Thanks. Just hoping he's properly challenged now he's under observation and can't just walk the rest of the way.

says "Arealperson", oh the irony.
While I'm at it, this has probably been mentioned but shout out to Asher for starting this whole thing AND being a real person using his REAL name.

In the increasingly unlikely even that this turns out to be legit, I for one would be only too happy to issue an apology and help provide the evidence to any further doubters as well as making a generous donation to one of his charities.
However, even if this one is shown to be legit, he has an awaful lot of explaining to do regarding his other achievements. Even Rossi doesn't seem to have so many inconsistencies in his profile.

He WILL walk the rest of the way. Unless of course laz or some other heroes trail him every step to NYC. Then he will ride the RW instead.
RV...
Also, I was reading that he had this incredible - out of this world pace - crossing the western mountain regions. So, why is he unable to get the pace back up now that he is in rolling flatlands?
Perhaps because he wasn't running that fast.
Of course, what he will say (and is also abstractly reasonable) is that going over the mountains hurt him and he can't get that pace back because it took too much out of him.
Which would seem a lot more valid if the desert and mountain numbers weren't in and of themselves ridiculous.
As for upcoming hills, Ohio and Pennsylvania won't be easy. Especially after the heat and humidity in IL/IN. That's supposed to be what happens... it gets harder as you go. Don't look at this stuff like a marathon where he is supposed to keep the same pace throughout. It doesn't work like that.
And none of that explains the ridiculous numbers nor the bizarre behavior by his team, driving at a nice steady 10mph while their runner is 15 minutes behind them IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT and fearing a knife-wielding assailant. That's either the dumbest support team ever or a cover.

I am told Rob asked for an additional 15 minutes of footage from the car wash after the rv passed. I have obtained that video, and there are two people that pass by (independently). One is clearly not Rob. It is possible the other is Rob. I have messaged him directly through Facebook to see if he would like to provide any details about his trip through Emporia before I post it. Right now, believers would believe and doubters would doubt, but any details he gives could help one way or the other. Although, the Lebo incident has not been sufficiently explained, it is slightly possible he ran through emporia. I'll let you all know what response I get from Rob (and/or crew) when I post the video(s).
This is your chance to apologise for setting this whole thing up Asher. You know you have been rumbled and you should now be humble and lets all let Rob do his running and look at the other aspects post run. Your video is a fraud as you know so you should be gracious and apolgise.
Secondly I'm sorry to tell you all that the mysterious Laz is not with Rob or his team as I asked them directly. Bill Schultz Gary and Ray are currently with him. They have not seen anyone called Laz or who resembles Laz.[/quote]
CoachKev, I think I may be able to help you out clarifying Rob's pro cycling background. I believe Rob used a pseudonym when he biked professionally. I can find records of a Robert Hera riding for Team Liberty Securities that is British and generally targeted the longer races. Can you ask Rob if this could be him since the descriptions match up?

What irony? A. Persson (Persson is his surname) has given his real name and posted links to his running tracks.
Try to keep up.
I don't get the Ultra-bashing that is going on in this thread. And actually, no, I don't want or need anyone to explain it. It's just so incredibly juvenile, no matter what the purported "reason". I think running a sub-five-minute mile is awesome, and running a sub-three-hour marathon is awesome, and completing a 100-mile ultra is also awesome. I am a slightly-above-middle-of-the-pack marathoner, by the way.
All the sophomoric infighting is dragging down what is a really epic thread on what is turning out to be one of the greatest running frauds of all time. Your tacky potshots at one another are appreciated by no one.
If you want to keep at it, can you please start your own thread with an appropriately clever title like "Ultra runners are pvssies"? Then you will be sure to attract the intellectual caliber of commenters that the topic deserves.
This thread is TOO AWESOME to ruin.
I'm telling you, this guy is Dane Rauschenberg's long-lost chimeric twin. And your accurate description of how this plays out is an exact read of how it's been for Dane since his cheating endeavors.
