Basically looking for a shoe with a similar fit to the Adios Boost 2, but more of a training shoe rather than a racer. Any recommendations?

They are pretty much the same. This year's Boston (named V5) is some 10g lighter than last year's Boston (also named V5..). Basically same weight as Adios Boost 2 (which is only lighter 5g now) and frankly cant tell any difference in cushioning.
Now Adios Boost 3 instead is more roomier than #2 and i know some people who had to go half size down. Adios B 3 and Boston B 5 (2016) weight pretty much the same...
If you want something lighter from Adidas than Adios Boost you need to shelve well over 50g (Ren/Sen), with nothing in between. So two shoes which weight the same (Adios & Boston) and nothing in between.
Adidas mysteries....
Thanks for the advice everyone, I'll check the Bostons out!
Boston Boost 5 is practically the same shoe as the adios 2, just with slightly more rubber on the sole and a tiny bit more cushioning.
If you're after a cushioned recovery/easy shoe to partner with the adios then the energy boost or ultra boost would be the one. They're both pretty expensive for a trainer though.
I went for some Saucony Kinvara 6s, they were reasonable and look a good mix of speed and cushion. Might post back in here with the verdict after I've tried them out.

More like a trainer would be the energy boost
