Pretty obvious Ashlee was impeded by Stanford runner in home straight. Also, believe Ashlee was the 1st non-qualifier.
Anyone know if she lodged a protest?

Interesting considering there was no Stanford runner in her heat.

Washington? Or was athlete already DQ'd from results?
protest was denied. cool how they are all public, posted right next to results
Interesting considering her name is Ashley not Ashlee.

The runner involved was Anna Maxwell of Washington, the top time seed and the heat winner.
Looking at the replay, Maton was just getting up to Maxwell's shoulder coming off the last turn as the two of them were sitting 4th/5th in a pack with only two auto qualifiers. Maxwell (on the inside) needed to get outside of the three runners ahead of her to make her winning move and that's what she did, cutting in front of Maton, who had to chop her stride. Hard to tell if there was contact.
The way Maton was moving up, I don't think Maxwell saw (or even sensed) Maton was there. Technically, Maton had a right to her line and to the space but, realistically, the top seed isn't getting DQd without blood on the track.
Maton should have had the track sense to recognize who Maxwell was, and what she was going to do at that point in the race, and leave a little room.
Washington and Stanford unis look nothing alike, so not sure where that confusion came from.
Maton also had a bit of drama at Pac-12's, both in her heat and in the final she was let into after protesting. In the final she got caught looking silly when she attempted to shove someone, missed, and nearly fell again. Maybe she should just focus on racing.

Yes, she's gotten into tangles in her past 3 races, which will be the last of her collegiate career. Her running style involves an arm swing that is more wild than average, bringing her cupped hands up very high, almost to her neck, and her elbows swing out more than most, especially on one side. She also seems to misjudge what is possible in terms of maneuvering through a pack, and in addition seems to have an inflated sense of where she belongs in a pack.
Pac-12 heat: tangled with Sarah Feeney (Utah) & Amy-Eloise Neale (Wash.), fell, appealed, got put through as an extra qualifier.
Pac-12 final: tried to burst between two runners with 300m to go, shoved Rebecca Mehra (Stanford) to her outside, then grabbed onto Anna Maxwell (Wash.) on her inside, stumbling quite a bit.
West Regional: as described above, tangled again with Maxwell. No one was DQed; if Maton appealed, it was unsuccessful.
If I were running in a race with her, I'd try to avoid being within her zone of flailing and pushing.
