Hey running friends. Just wanted to start a blog to keep track of my training for the next year. I'm about to be a Junior in High School. These are my PR's by year:
Freshman Year: Spring 2015 (6'1, 135)
400: 54.52
800: 2:13.34
1600: 5:34.29
During this off-season I lifted and focused on speed between June-October, and then base between October-February with occasional lifting (only 25-30 mpw) then track season was between February-May so I stopped lifting and running on my own.
Sophomore Year: Spring 2016 (6'2, 140)
400: 51.52
800: 2:00.15
1600: 4:50.13
For this year I'm approaching my off-season a little bit differently. I'm going to run about 50 mpw until October (I'm doing XC for the first time) and then I'll tone it down to 25-30 mpw and lift and get my speed back between November-February with lifting.
Junior Year Goals:
400: 49.99
800: 1:54.99
1600: 4:29.99
I'll post every week on my progress and training. If you guys have any questions, comments or suggestions don't be shy. I'm a little bit worried about losing my "natural speed" with all of these miles. If you guys have any strategies on how I can keep it going into track season that'd be great. Thanks!
