Had a good sectional and ended up qualifying in both the 1600 and 3200 for state this year. Ran 4:25.5 and 9:43.4 and took second and third respectively. My mile time currently puts me in the 14-16th place range out of 24 but my 2 mile has me all the way back at 22nd out of 26th(extra qualifiers). I attribute some of this to the fact that I am doubling and the majority of the people ahead of me in the two mile are only doing that race. (the mile and two mile will be ran on separate days)I have doubled all year so I don't have a strong fresh 2 mile PR to go off of but my coach seems to think that I am lined up for a big PR in the 2.
So to my question, should I go into this race and set it up to hit a big PR like around 9:30 or should I stick to what got me to where I am and see if I have more gas in my last 1000-1200 than I normally do when I double.
