My PR is 4:40 which I ran 3 weeks ago, so its fair to say ive either gained or maintained fitness. My championship race is going to come down to strategy So my strategy to get me from a 4:40 to a 4:35 is this
Start out semi fast and get decent position so upper middle pack. If things workout as planned I will have them carry me through in 2:17-2:19 at the 800m mark. Then my strategy is to run even to negative 200 splits which are going to be called out by my coaches at the respective 200m marks. Personally I find whenever we do 200 repeats with limited rest easier then 400m with decent rest so Im hoping the mentality should carry over. After I hit 800m Im hoping to run even 200's. Any flaws or inconsistencies I should work on, or better strategy for 4:35?
this is my perfect race scenario
800m- 2:18
1st 200-34
2nd 200- 34
3rd 200- 35
4th-200 kick home in 32
