Idk if there are auto qualifying times for the Olympics, but I think there should be! That way runners will take pacemakers seriously and WRs will be broken more often...

No they won't. They will do just enough to run the auto qualifier. They will not run 12:37.

Is is the Ethiopians in the 2012 Paris 5k, which served as the Ethiopian trial for 5k? I know Gebremeskel and Gebrhiwet ran 12:46 and 12:47, and I assume that the third Ethiopian probably ran low 12:50s. I think Bekele ran mid-high 12:50s, and didn't make the team.
Yup! You're absolutely right! 2012 Paris 5k served as Olympics trails for ETH. And it is the Bekele brothers that I'm talking about....they ran 12:54/12:55, but the times were not enough to qualify them as Gebremeskel, Gebrehiwot, and Alamirew finished ahead of them with 12:48 or better.
