The other side of the double-edged sword is that guiding Everest is the core of the sherpa economy. They could boycott, but lose millions of crucial $$, not to mention a huge source of cultural pride.

Also stop making up facts and do your research. Some of the worlds best ultrarunners are vegan. There are pro cyclists who turned vegan not for ethics but for the performance benefits it brings. And Conor Mcgregor was beaten by Nate Diaz, a vegan.

Being a vegan wouldn't directly cause her death, but it does indirectly. Being a vegan implies poor decisionmaking, and poor decisionmaking causes death. End of story.

If you are vegan, nobody should ever know. If you openly advertise it, your motivation is never just the "performance benefits." It becomes an attention-seeking and validation tool.

Actually, Sherpas are borderline anemic by western standards. They have a low red blood cell count.

They have a higher blood oxygenation due to a gene inherited from a hominin human ancestor, homo denisova. They don't need hemoglobin as high as most people because they are able to take in oxygen at a higher rate.
