At what age are spikes appropriate for youth runners?
My daughter is in 6th grade running MS track having decent local success (5:52 mile 2:41 800) she ran XC this past fall and has done some summer track stuff the last few years. Not over the top a couple days a week practice and one week a meet for 6 weeks or so in the summer. Plays other sports as well, mostly basketball.
I coach HS XC and have coached track as well, my philosophy has been to just run in her regular trainers right until HS. Just worried about the potential injury, staring on chillies etc in spikes. Any thoughts from anyone on this??
