1) Radiohead

3) KISS
4) U2
5) Nirvana
Your turn
1. Kiss (shit)
2. The Rolling Stones (boy band). Keith, Brian OK though
3. Rush (drummer no feel)
4. Pink Floyd (later eras only, Syd OK, Gilmour OK when not singing)
5. Pearl Jam (indie for jocks, derivative crap)
I have six:
radiohead
pink floyd
pearl jam
radiohead
radiohead
yr an idiot to put the Rolling Stones on this list tho
I agree with U2. I enjoy them, but they have had little impact on popular culture or any bands that followed.
I'd say many 70s acts that established enduring "brands" never actually put out great music:
Aerosmith, AC/DC, The Eagles especially
So my list would be:
Aerosmith
AC/DC
The Eagles
U2
The Grateful Dead

WWWHHHHAAAATTTTT?????
Also, how is KISS overrated? No one has ever claimed that their music is great. They would probably say the same thing. They are in the money-making business, and they are very successful at that.
KISS just may be the most appropriately-rated band in musical history: Satisfactory in its ability to get the members laid.
U2
Nirvana
E-street band and that pathetic front vocalist
The Who
Led Zeppelin

whazzat?
named by Spin Mag the most influential band of the last 25 years:
http://www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/its-depressing-but-true-u2-are-the-most-influential-band-of-the-last-25-years1. Queen - they're a glorified novelty act
2. U2
3. The grateful dead
4. Pink Floyd
5. LCD soundsystem
Really any band who is seen as good purely because sold a lot of records. If anything, Radiohead is underrated.
Fair point. Although their ability to get laid doesn't impact my enjoyment of their music. I just don't like their music, as compared to similar but much better melodic bands like ACDC, Def Leppard, Motley Crue, etc.

Did you read that NME article? He nailed it.
Also, SPIN went out of print in 2012, due largely to the fact that they find U2 influential.
1. Phish/Grateful Dead: Every song is filled with self indulgent solos that make an already boring and tedious hippie "groove" into a form of Rumsfeld-esque torture. No amount of drugs can make it possible to listen to this stuff.
2. Metallica: Completely vapid big hair rock
3. Coldplay: Too obvious why
4. Linkin Park: it is usually what jocks on the football team blast in the car when they harass the cross country team working out on the roads.
5. Jimmy Buffet: Below average beach band/lounge singer with a crazy cult following jamming out to some of the whitest music ever

Totally agree on 1 and 5 and any other jam band. I don't care for Metallica but those boys can rock out and are very good instrumentalists. I think Coldplay is a very good melodic, arena band. And you should give Linkin Park more credit. They made the scream/hip hop cross over sound and did it well. Today's groups like 21 Pilots come from the genesis of Linkin Park.

You must still be on some of the drugs from when you were at Madison Square Garden while Zep was filming The Song Remains the Same. To include Zeppelin and the Who in this is ridiculous.
journey
styx
queen
guns and roses
the beatles
note: i don't hate the beatles, but i think they're massively overrated

Calling Radiohead overrated is correct, many claim they are the best of all time. In fact they are actually #4 of all time.
If Bon Jovi is considered good at all, they're badly overrated. The opening riff of "living on a prayer" literally makes me sick at my stomach.
