7:38 3000m - Nearly took down deeeep domestic field at Milrose
13:02 5000m - Top 10 time for Americans
27:30 10000m - In his second pro 10k, also made the World championship team
All of these preformances came from the last 12 months, aside from the 5000.
But he gets no attention like someone like Ben True
BTW I think he is ready for something HUGE at Pre if it is a good day.
There is more in the tank for him too...
I'd say he's one of the most fairly-rated guys out there. He ran 13:02 in a time trial and hasn't really had any notable performances other than that. He hasn't been a factor in any international races (not counting europeans).
Ben True is a little better than Mead, plus True is white so he gets more attention.
My prediction for Mead at Pre is that if the pace is fast, and the winner runs ~12:55, Mead will run 13:03ish for about 8th place. If the race is slow (13:05 or slower) Mead will get destroyed in the last 600 and probably by 10th or 11th place.
BTW I don't say these things out of dislike for Mead. I hope he does well, but I disagree with OP about how talented/fit he is.

Mead is definitely one of my top 5 runners
Ben True races a lot more than Mead and has a lot more big results to his name (Diamond League win, World XC 6th). That is why he gets more attention.
Hassan Mead is definitely underrated, but he's not nearly as accomplished as Ben True. Pretty obvious why he gets less attention.
Will he be running both the ten and the five at the trials? I think he's better at the five (at least past results seem to indicate that) at the moment but I would bet on him to make the 10k team pretty handily
Hassan is a really good runner. He's got great wheels but I think he needs to develop his strength more to use them at the end of a 5k/10k (especially if he wants to make the leap from domestic to international contender). If they were running the 5k at Pre on Friday night, I wouldn't be surprised to see him duck under 13:00, but given that it is going off at 1:43 in the afternoon, I don't think the race will be that fast.
Right now, it's only supposed to be a high of 67 on Sat and partly cloudy, so it could be okay for distance running but generally 5ks in the middle of the day just aren't that quick. Remember Mead ran 13:19 at Pre two years ago just a few weeks after running 13:02 at Payton Jordan.
