Don't see what is the point when you can use a converted mile time to qualify + it's hard to see anyone qualifying for the trials. Should've kept it as it is.

America is in decline. Thank you, Obama.

No you can't. No conversions are used. There's a set mile standard.
From the Trials qualifying standards page:
"An appeal to use a Mile qualifying mark for the 1500 will be accepted only if the mile mark was made during the 2016 season, from Friday, January 1, 2016 through Sunday, June 26, 2016, and the mark is 3:54.00 or better for the men and 4:28.43 for the women."
Also they only changed the girls race for the time being. A few girls could run 4:09. Unless girls are going for sub-4:30 (which is very rare in HS) I think this isn't the worst idea.
Hunter, slagowski, tamagno all hitting the OT standard haha just kidding tamagno least likely to. Not sure who's going to brooks/adidas or both
What a bunch of Sheilas.
Do we even know who is in the dream race?
Is there as much interest for a girl's mile as for the boys?

Someone told me this weekend that they were thinking about doing this. The word I heard was that adidas thought everyone wanted it.
I laughed and thought, "no one wants it."
SEriously? I'm only interested in a HS mile to see if a kid can get near or break 4:00. The 1500 has zero appeal to me. Zero. Now, I just read the article. They are only doing it for the girls. Good move.
1500/mile I don't care for girls. For boys, it's all about the mile. The only reason why I'd want to see a 1500 is if that got Drew Hunter to show. Otherwise, let it be a mile. No HSer is goign to run 3:38 that's not already at Pre anyway.
I am dumfounded, Adidas has made an absolutely boneheaded mistake.
I love you dude
Uceny as Pacer for the G1500 pacer?
Sheila Reid said the mile is a relic of old white male nostalgia and that women should run the 1500.
The fact of the matter is that they are simply trying hard to correct an idiotic mistake.....Yeah, lets try to hold a top level national HS race the same weekend as two established top level high school national meets (NBON and BrooksPR.) Switching to the 1500 is an appeal to try and grab the rainsberger, Moreno, Donaghu, Murphy, Aragon...
Im sure the meet director of this meet and the other two are all concerned about getting the best to come to their meet. Again. Not the smartest people in the world. Not sure what kind of genius it takes to look at a calendar and say gee.....Let's hold out meet the week before or after Brooks/NBON.
I will never understand the way these meet directors think and plan. Either way, all three meets are now diluted as the best kids in the country will be spread out in three different places. Not smart, and not what is best for the HS runners.
This is the trap millions of small business owners fall into every day. Everyone thinks they have the best product and are stubbornly going to push it. Be it a track meet, a grocery store, or a lemonade stand. The issue is that not everyone else shares the same opinion.
Already know that Donaghu and Aragon are running at Brooks.....Not sure about Murphy, Rainesberger, and Moreno.
You are exactly right though.....They are all spending a ton of money with the expectation of ending up with a great product, but will they? Doubtful.
NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE MILE.
