Now that the market has spoken will Nike drop it's suit with Berian? I can't imagine the board will be too happy at the backlash this has caused. I expect more of the same until Nike drops the suit. SELL SELL SELL!

Do you honestly think anyone outside of a American few track & field fans knows about this issue?
I've sold my old Nike tights. Yeah, the price was really down.
I live approximately 140km from Paris and I have heard about this.

While I do feel bad for Berian, I'm not going to get my hopes up. No one cares about this at all. You visit this website, so you're several orders of magnitude more likely than an ordinary person to pick up on this news. The fact that you picked this info up isn't that surprising.

I doubt this "backlash" even registers on the radar. Given that Nike's total market cap is $90 billion+ (rising ~$45 billion in less than 4 years), this is more or less just routine day-to-day noise/fluctuations.

6/10 you got a few nibbles on a preposterous premise.

If we believe that the LR community is full of millionaires then it is totally possible that they own a collective $600mm in Nike shares and they all sold everything in protest.
Unfortunately in reality this is not true.
A good PR stunt for the Brojos would be IF they own Nike shares then they should sell their shares and use the money to hire a legal team for Berian. That would probably turn into a viral story beyond just the message boards and shed some light on Nike's behavior.
Eventually he will get caught doping so I'd say let him get sued. You know what they say in prison... You may be innocent on the charge you were found guilty of, but you are guilty of many other things that you got away with.
If something like that actually did happen, Nike has the audacity to claim Berian was at fault and would use it to claim damages. One little problem - Nike will have a hard time getting $600 from Berian, never mind $600 Million or even $600 Thousand.
Berian has nothing to worry about. If Nike is awarded a monetary judgment Berian will declare bankruptcy. Nike is just doing this to rattle the nerves of a young athlete, the best 800m the US has. Nike is trying to help their white-bread, lackluster Sowinski. Nike's contracts are so great that Sowinski has to race himself into the ground chasing performance bonuses, in an Olympic year. LOL!!! This shows Nike could care less about Team USA, it is all about Nike's profits. USATF doesn't care, as long as their cabal of chosen athletes are left alone.
Oh please, I doubt Nike even knows who Boris Berian is
Right, Nike has prepared and filed a lawsuit against someone they don't know.
0/10
only 0.000001% of the world knows who the heck Berian is
But 99.9% know that Nike is psychopathic

I think you're being a bit harsh as it's amazing so many idiots took the threads preposterous premise seriously. 8/10 from me.
By the way, I'm in Australia and all my workmates who've never heard of LetsRun have heard of Boris Berian, he's a legend down here, up there with Crocodile Dundee.
Now that Nike has broken the seal and started litigation against its own athletes, you have to wonder who's next. Why not Mary Cain? She signed a huge deal and since then has transformed into someone "not ready to race" over the last three years. If they're willing to make an example out of Berian, then take it a step further and punish Cain. Make a statement, tell current and future athletes you need to live up to your expectations. Provide investment return or there will be consequences.
It doesn't matter if they have grounds. Bullying athletes is obviously entertaining to Nike. Or at least reminding them they are owned horses.
Just do the equivalent of what Lou Reed did to his record company, he made the Metal Machine double album of noise, just to fulfill his contract and piss them off.
From the summary on the home page I would venture to guess that Berian is in the wrong. He doesn't seem to understand what a ROFR (right of first refusal) is. In my job, they are a very significant part of the deals I work on.
Nike has the right to match the NB offer which it seems like it tried to do.
I'm guessing Berian does not have a decent lawyer, in fact it doesn't seem like he has one.
All this over some petty temporary tattoo. Hope it was worth it, Nike!
Nike's market cap is about $94 billion.
Just a piece information I thought you might want to know if you care about this thread.

99.9% of you and your immediate circle maybe, but more like .1% of the general population.
