Getting new XC uniforms... will I regret getting mostly WHITE tops?
These need to last us 3-4 years... just thinking about dirt, etc...

Is one of your school colors white?
Just don't get white bottoms. Ran Jr. year college steeple in white shorts...not a good look
Are these women's uniforms? Does it rain where they race?

White isn't a color ;-)
And, yes :-)

Ah... good word.
We have white tops for one of our xc looks.
They actually look better than our colored top after several years. Go figure.

Are you a high school coach bruh? I would suggest getting a different color uniform. White is just a bad idea. Even if you tell your athletes to take care of the uniforms they will quickly go from white to "off white".
I bought white singlets - and school color shorts - for my high school track and cross country teams. Nobody else wears white, so it made it easier to find my kids in races, especially xc.
Those uniforms never turned color because I did all the laundry.
White uniform :-)
My dad was in the naval reserves, and they had a big parade. He wanted to look good, so my mom had to clean his dress whites. Not white enough for his satisfaction. So she cleaned them again. And again. Parade day, he stood out like a beacon in the sea of off-white.
Christmas one year she bought him a pair of boxers with red hearts. He made the mistake one time of wearing them under his uniform. Naturally his navy buddies never let him forget that.
Both of those stories were related to me by my mom, of course.
don't get white - my son's school has white and they look awful on day two. The main thing is the gummy residue from lane numbers - there's a permanent dirt patch on everyone's singlet.

This.
We have the athletes buy the uniform at cost $35 and they keep it 4 years.
I was going to get white tops for track for the same reason others mentioned: they would really stand out in races, though there are a few other teams in Colorado with white tops. Multiple other coaches told me not to do it and stick with darker colors because the white tops tend to start looking bad after a couple of seasons. Ultimately our administration was concerned with girls wearing white tops that could possibly get wet so we went with darker colors.
The other thing I'll add is if it's cold where you are and the kids have to wear undershirts or tights for some of the meets (describes about half of track season in Colorado), a white singlet on top of a black compression shirt doesn't look very good and white compression shirts don't look very good on most kids IMO. Plus it's just way easier for kids to buy black tights and black compression shirts so if you just plan on the kids wearing those colors with your uniform it makes life way easier for everyone.
white tops are great, but go with dark shorts
