1609 or 1600 meters?
it was only 1600 meters. have run against the kid (albeit i was almost lapped in the 3200), he has beautiful form and is very tactically smart. he won XC, the 800, and the 3200 state titles, but in the 1600 he had blisters and didn't even run in spikes. he is going to a junior college, i believe. nice guy.
Did a google image search to see some action photos of ZB. Was struck by the fact that prepsportswear is using his name to sell clothes.

The lawsuits by college athletes seeking to get a cut of revenue made from the marketing of their names/images are still in the courts. I presume the issue must have some framework for being dealt with by high schools. But, offhand, I can't recall any discussion specific to this context: i.e., the for-profit, uncompensated use of (amateur) high school athletes' names/images.
Nice try. You know they do that for every kid you look up, right? So it is a personalized shirt they offer to every runner.
But I happen to agree with you that college athletes in big revenue sports are exploited.
Good news. I'll be following him.

it's more than that. At the very least, they are using his name to attract traffic to their for-profit website. That's why the shirt with his name comes up in a google image search.
And there are many high school athletes (perhaps more so in basketball/football) who reach a level of a popularity where a name on a shirt isn't just a personalized item but one that is marketable to a larger audience. Can the seller say: "oh, that's just something we offer to everyone."
Not a rhetorical question; I don't know the answer.
He actually only lead the last 250m or so

Are you really that much of an a$$hole? Seriously? Come say that to our faces, and you'll see what a beating really feels like. Total f1cking loser.

Any internet gurus here that know how to get this guy's IP address and identify him? I'd like to make him famous. Any help would be appreciated.
Go back to your hole.
You have no idea what a native kid has to overcome - any native kid.
I do.
And I'm not even native.
BTW, I was pretty successful as an Oklahoma distance runner back in the day, and I work for an Indian Tribe now. So I have some perspective that others may not.
4:09 1600 solo? WOW! Good on him!

Dude, relax. Just because somebody says something stupid as an attempt at a joke doesn't mean you should temporarily make yourself look stupid too. Let him shine on as the only idiot and I ignore him.
I heard it was between a couple D2/NAIA schools
He's going to Bacone college an NAIA school coached by long time Letsrun troll Clay Mayes
his run wasn't solo. he sat on another guy who ran 4:12. this dude doesn't have a great kick. i didn't actually see this race in person, but he probably only lead the last lap. that's also how he won his state titles. in XC, he didn't lead til 800 to go. in both 800 and 3200 he didn't lead until 300 to go.

I won't ignore him. I'm also Native, and have dealt with racism my entire life. I grew up with nothing, and made something of myself. I refuse to sit aside, and let someone denigrate my people any further. If you think I look like an idiot for standing up to this nonsense, then your priorities are highly misplaced.
Small town kid in Oklahoma, you say? Shocking
