Josh McDougal
That de-escalated quickly.
McDougal seems to be a great guy but his case is a good example of mistaking training for talent. He and Rupp were contemporaries but Rupp was directed toward a long, slow mileage progression vs McDougal's get-rich-quick approach.
Salazar said he was trying to match Galen's peak training with his peak age. That makes sense especially in light of all the athletes that have come in gone in Rupp's time. McDougal was one of them. He ran a ton of miles but he spent his high mileage years too early.
Kate Hall (freshman at Iowa State but transferring to Georgia) was home schooled and broke the high school record in the LJ last year, jumping 6.83m (ranked 13th in the world). She placed 12th at NCAAs in this winter so obviously time will tell to see how she does in the NCAA, but she's one to look out for.
