After reading our Weekly Recap - http://goo.gl/GyfcGG - a LetsRun.com visitor has sent us an amazing email. He reveals that the men's SEC 10k wasn't 25 laps long. No, Jacob Thomson of Kentucky won it after running 28 laps.

Lastly - one additional item of note that I didn't see get any play on the MB was that during the Men's 10k at the SEC meet the power & lights to the entire stadium (and a portion of the surrounding campus) went out. The race was being held after 10:00 pm so light was pretty important at that point. :) The race was stopped (they had run about 1200m) and once power was back they ran the full 10k.
We went to rolltide.com and found what they said about the race: "The men's 10,000 meters began ominously when approximately 1,200 meters into the race there was a general power outage in the area that caused a nearly 35-minute delay. After power was restored, Kentucky sophomore Jacob Thompson used a strong finish over the final two laps to claim the SEC title in a winning time of 29:47.89."
Was anyone there? What was it like?
Has anyone been in another distance track race that was stopped mid-race? What are the actual rules? What do you do if you are 4 miles into a 10k? Ring a bell and tell them it's over in 1 lap?
