I did landscaping and I ran 5 miles to my bosses house (they drove us to the jobs) in the morning and 5 more home at night, then longer on the weekend. There are lots of jobs that involve sweating outside where this would work.
I'll be working construction, sweating it out in the sun. If only it was retail instead.
Thanks for the responses guys, you're giving me hope that it's possible.
It is possible but not easy.
In college i worked as an engineering tech for 2 summers. 45-55 hrs/wk. Spent every day on a construction site. Not manual labor necessarily, but I was on my feet, up and down ladders, crawling through hot attics, working on the roof, etc. It was in Texas, so 100+ a lot of days.
I managed to get in about 75mpw. I'm not a morning person, so I'd run singles about 8pm. Sometimes i'd do a quality session but mostly just easy to moderate paced miles.
It was extremely draining. All I did was work, eat, run. Every summer i looked forward to school starting so I could relax. It was good experience for my future career, but going back I probably would have done something else.
