What happened here??? He's too fast to be rabbiting a 3:36 race.
He was rabbiting.
He was rabbiting for the guys to hit the Olympic standard. The guys in 2nd an 3rd are New Zealand runners.

What's the standard and did they get it?
3:36.20 is the OG Q number
That is a great time. Now it would also be great if he could show up at the NCAA 5000m, instead of disappearing when Cheserek makes a move. If that's not to much to ask.
Also a nice result for Torrence. Can't count him out for top 3 at Trials in a kicker's race (either 1500m or 5k).

Yep - also #2 in Ivy history, behind Merber's 3:35.59 from 2012's Swathmore meet. Question for Awad if he sticks with the 5k for NCAAs or go 1500m or attempt a double. I remember reading somewhere that he may stick with 1500m for the Olympic Trials.
Also, Princeton's Garrett O'Toole was in the race (same heat) - he finished with 3:39.34, new Princeton record and #3 in Ivy history.
And the results - is there actually a runner out there named "peter callaghan" or is that a misspelling of "peter callahan", as in the former Princeton/New Mexico runner?
Awad is better at the 1500. He can kick well off a tactical 5000 because he's more of a strength side guy for the 15, but I don't seem him running sub 13:20. That's bare minimum what you need to be the on the podium at NCAA's.

School record?
Not really. While he already had the 1500 school record coming in for the 1500, it amazes me how people have no idea of history. 42 years ago, in 1974, Dennis Fikes ran a 3:55.0 mile for Penn.
A 3:55.0 mile converts to 3:37.56 for 1500. Now if Fikes times was a hand time, they'd basically be equal to each other. So Awad = Fikes from 42 years ago.
The key for Awad was he's sub 3:38.00 so he's guaranteed to go the Trials which is what he really wanted. Congrats.
Oh, okay, so now you have to run the mile school record to get the 1500m school record? This time is not clearly inferior in any case.

No. I've never ever believed this.
He may be better now but he's not going to be on a US world champs team at 1500. If he's still competing in 2020, he'll be a 5000 guy. A guy with a listed 800 pb of 1:53 will not compete internationally at 1500.

Must be would imply that they would assume that they would be amazed if it wasn't, not that it is. Comprehension continues to not be a strong suit of the Brojos.
It also amazes me how American absorbed so many are.
The Olympic standard was bumped up from 3:36.00 to 3:36.20 this winter so this means that the top 2 guys got the standard. It was a pb for Matthews (previous pb of 3:37.37) and Hamish Carson (3:38.04). You gotta feel for Carson who missed it by .05.
Rojo when was the last time he ran a 800 and how often? Just because his PR is 1:53 doesn't mean he can't run faster.
Torrence announcing himself as a pretty solid contender for the Oly team here.
1- Centro
2- Andrews
3- Torrence
^ I could see it happening; this plus 13:19 at Peyton leave him looking pretty good.
I'd guess it's down to him, Blankenship, Manzano and maybe Merber. Torrence is actually getting out there and performing ATM while those others have been fairly quiet in 2016 -well except for Blankenship I guess, although a failed 10k attempt and a 7:53 3k don't exactly hold up to Torrences' races- .
Then again Manzano has been the safe bet since like 2007 sooo...
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
