Chales Jones just won the Big 12 800 final and it made us realize that Josh Thompson ran the prelims yesterday and had the top times in both the 800 and 1500 but didn't run the final for religious reasons.
Running yesterday gives him the experience of racing rounds, shows his teammates he is a valued member of the team, and does keep another school from putting someone else in the final.
If you missed Jon Gaul'ts profile on Thompson from earlier this year it's definitely worth a read. Titled: Meet The Most Interesting Man In NCAA Running: He’s 5’9″, Can Dunk A Basketball And In One Year Has Gone From 4:17 To The #3 Time In NCAA History: Meet Oklahoma State’s Josh Thompson
