It used to be there would win the B1G win distance runners, now he hardly has any running and doesn't even fill all available conference spots.

Who is there and what would he do with the B1G win distance runners?

Any running what?
(and doesn't even fill all available conference spots.)

Its a rebuilding decade for Wisco.
How could they possibly be rebuilding with the talent they've gotten the last 3 years?

To clarify:
This guy's alluding to the fact that in the B1G 10k on Thursday, Wisconsin only had one guy in the race and he finished dead last. Contrast with only 2 years ago, when they went 1-2-3 in both the 10k and the 5k. Truly a startling fall from grace, and they don't seem to be recovering very well from what was their worst XC season in decades (no nationals qualification and 8th at B1Gs). Even if Morgan McDonald wins the 5k tomorrow (possible), it will still be a conspicuously bad big ten meet by the historical standards of Wisconsin distance, and it has already been a historically bad year.

Ok, Mike, good job. Care to share your thoughts on the sudden, dramatic decline in the quality and depth of Wisconsin distance?
Morgan 13:34
Hardy 14:00
Snider 14:06
Hacker 14:18
I'd hardly say there is a "decline"
Mick is just redshirting everyone while they learn the steeplechase...next year they will go 1-2-3-4-5-6 in the steeplechase...you heard it hear first
Where is Malachy? No sign of him since XC regionals.
Why has Joe Hardy been switched to a 5K guy this year? The guy won the Big Ten 1500 last year and was in the final at NCAAs.

Gotta cut him some slack. Minnesota sports teams succeed so rarely that their fans have to latch on to whatever they can. Surprised if he doesn't retort with something about the Vikes winning the division last year (only to lose a home playoff game) which everyone knows was a total outlier. ;)

What do you think Mr. "beet juice and baking soda cheater" Smarty Pants?
What a stupid question.

Good thinking. Mick should get them on some beets and bicarbonate.
1st Wisconsin finisher in the big ten 5k is Hardy...in 15th. Michigan, Purdue, Minnesota, Indiana, Penn State, and Michigan State EACH had at least 2 men in before him. Wisconsin's lone distance scorer at the meet was McDonald, 3rd in the 1500.
I'm genuinely puzzled at how little damage these guys have done in 2015-16. Here's hoping for a decent showing at track regionals and a better 2016-17.
My question is what is up with Disanza? Once again, a DNS in the women's 5000m
The best job to step into is one where they have never won before. I guess Mick is not doing that. However he appears to have no where to go but up now.
It takes time to develop distance runners. That is why Cross Country Running was added to Track & Field many decades ago.
Wowww....this has gotta be WI's worst conference meet in a looooong time. They land so many great recruits too!

A good coach doesn't drive a good program into the ground and then need "Well, we've improved since our low point" as an excuse. Distance runners do take time to develop but didn't Mick inherit some guys who were already developed? He's been at WI since 2008 so hard to use the "takes time to develop" rationale.
While we are on the topic of Wisco, whatever happened to Malcolm Plunkett? Great comeback story out of Vermont: State champ xc as a sophomore in hs, sits junior year with a stress fracture in his back, fights back his senior year and gets recruited for Wisco with a 8:48 3k and high 15's 5k on his resume? Can't find anything on him.
