This is actually a pretty big deal in Boulder. Fairview is really the only track to use in Boulder. CU's track is open 2 times a week for a few hours in the morning and doesn't allow spikes. A few runners/triathletes use the track at Niowt High School in Longmont, however word is the school isn't too thrilled about it. We will see what happens when more people start showing up there. That option may be shut down soon.
Without access to Fairview track, Boulder isn't really a viable place to train for track runners.
As for "this Troop guy." He has at least 4 athletes that have qualified for the trials, including Laura Thweatt who has a legitimate shot at making the Olympic team. No track 6 weeks out from the trials because of a group of people who really have no need for a track would piss me off too.
