Perhaps a HS team in Virginia has come up with a solution for all of Team USA's 4 x 100 troubles.

An illegal baton --too long-- should result in no win.
so many other things could have worked better than that.a rolled up magazine. paper towel tube. the list goes onthey should be DQ'd for being idiots

Letsrun is the saltiest place ever. Good for them for having fun at a low-key hs meet!
Neat, but it was done at the expense of their opponents. Poor sportsmanship.

I think you should be DQ'd for being an idiot. No one was hurt and it looks like they had fun. Good for them!
What kind of coach lets the kids get away with this? I know they didn't ask before but you should see them at the start or could pull them off the track. At least don't let them pose after.
I would be funny to run the last leg backwards while taunting the other runners too but not acceptable.
Fairfax is not what most would consider a 'serious' program.Note the one girl totally out of uniform.People wonder why others outside the sport think it is a joke - just look at how many people think this is awesome. SAD.

I see why people make fun of me for running now. They need to take it serious. If I was at that meet I would have been throwing some hands.
Just use a 100M long baton.

Basketball (an incredibly popular sport) has dunk contests where people are jumping over cars and catching balls from mascots on hoverboards. Lots of people think that is awesome and don't think that sport is a joke. Same f*cking thing here.

A dunk contest is a skill exhibition. It's not even close to the same things as an actually basketball game (or track meet). This is just poor sportsmanship and poor coaching. Where does this end. Should kids be waving at opponents they pass and running backwards at the finish.

"If you don't want us to run up the score, play better defense." Same idea applies, here. If you don't want to get beat by a kid running with a high jump bar, run faster. The kids they beat should be embarrassed.

First of all, that is usually said about pro sports or major college not high school. Also, this isn't winning a football game 50-0, this is doing flips and taunting your opponent before you get to the end zone. By the way showboating and taunting before you score the TD in college is illegal now and they take away your score.
This is great, harmless, innocent fun. These girls are my heroes this week. But yes, they should get some kind of reprimand. And probably dq-ed too. That doesn't take away from their greatness though.
I can't believe the officials even let them start with that thing.
Out of uniform!
Illegal baton!
What kind of coach?
Officials let this go on?
They showed up the competition!
All of this is why track sucks in the US.
I can't believe they pulled this off but it is excellent.
And you all can't seriously be bitching about illegal uniforms .
This run is the best thing I've seen in track all week . I'm trying to think if anything in Doha was better. I liked kiprop in the 1500.

Ah, yes! Another example of justifying poor sportsmanship by blaming the loser for not being good enough/trying hard enough. Good sportsmanship includes RESPECT for the opposition not contempt.
