i think you're being a bit dramatic here. maybe it's just the runners i workout with and the people i follow on stravamost runners i know who ran in college ran a sub 6-minute mile in 5th or 6th grade. i ran 5:49 in 6th grade and 5:24 in 8th grade, my best ever being 4:12 in collegei have friends who ran 9:40's in the 2-mile as freshman and a schoolmate of mine ran 4:30 as a frosh.6 minute miles are nothing. i was a 400/800/1500m runner in college and my first marathon was sun 6 minute pace and ALL of my run clubmates beat me by at least 5 minutesi train hard just to stay close (in races) to people in my city that can get off the couch, train for 3 months, and run a 2:22 marathon. 6 minute miles are truly nothing

The mods should change the title to "When was your last sub-4 mile?" so that everybody on lrc can answer.

As I am 42 now, sub 6 is not easy, but it feels good.
What does one have to do with the other? A six minute mile is age graded 66.6th percentile - which is to say, for a forum where runners turn dreams to reality, not all that dreamy.
Today at practice I ran 14:58 for my 5k. So I guess today. Is this a older person message board?
When I was 47, ran a 1600m time trial in 5:38. Ran a 2:28 800 at a Masters meet.
Project my 5k time.
July 2014 at a local masters track meet. 45 Yrs old at the time. My goal was to break 6 (I trained months specifically for it) and I got 5:59. I was so happy like how I felt when I broke 5 24 years earlier. I didn't realize how hard it was to break 6 until I couldn't do it anymore.
I hit a few sub-6s during my 18 mile long run this past Sunday.

My last sub 6 was in a mile road race around 2004. I stopped doing workouts and races after that and haven't run under 6 since. In 2013 I went 6:02 on the track.
An interval session aged 37 (5.37/5.45). Since then age and injuries have overtaken me and its not doable anymore, had to stop doing track intervals after it gave me Gilmore's groin and I needed surgery.
2.5 years ago I think. I ran an 18:46 5k with a 5:50 last mile.
about 4 years ago when taking the Air Force PT test. Ran about 5:50 pace for 1.5 miles. I just have not been able to consistently train to get back down below 6 since then.
Hi, TAA!
Summer of 2014, ran a 5:57 mile on a track. Was tough and felt like I was at 4-minute pace.
Probably could come close to low 6's right now, nervous to try that though. I'd be I'm around 6:15 shape.
32yr male.

Hey HardLoper!
Umm, I think you missed something.
Last Wednesday, on an AlterG Treadmill set at 90%.
Igy
Could probably get there now if I wanted to. Ran a first 6:13 mile in a 5k without wanting 2 months ago, ran a 41min 10k recently.
Started running 18 months ago, attempting to do "serious stuff" running a half-marathon below 2 hours, now I'm just enjoying running and seeing how far I can take my hobby jogger fitness (Which, for all my life, I thought was non-existant). 29 years old, 165lbs.
In the last 5k I ran, I went 5:55 in the third mile. That was in early February. I am (and was then) 47 years old.

AThat 2004 race was also my last time sub 5. I ran my last 5k in 2007 and the goal was to run 6 min pace. I ended up running around 18:50, no splits under 6. If I did any faster efforts since then it wasn't longer than 800m or 3min on/3 min off type workouts. I did a relaxed sub 2:30 800 for fun in spring 2008.
Funniest thread ever!!!!!!
When was your last orgasm???????
