Hello runners. Glad to be part of this forum now.
I'll try to kee this short because i have some questions please, but first a briefly introduction.
Few years ago i did weight training for some years but almost 5 years ago i left it and started to run. I'm not a long distance runner and i dont run in marathons. I basically run 5 miles (sometimes less) a day at a moderate pace and i try to do it 6 times a week.
I thought that steady state cardio was good for bone health and increase bone density, but a few days ago i've read some interesting studies saying distance runers have similar level of bone density as sedentary people have. Well this is not very good.
I know HIIT training but i've never done it. I'm much more into it now that i've read that bone density of sprinters outperformed distance runners. I guess it's the high impact of that training.
I have some kind of silly questions but i'd like you to give me your opinions/experiences please:
1 - Did you already check your bone density level since your started running?
2 - Is it possible that i could have lose some height with this running i've been doing these years? Did you note any decrease in height?
As a conclusion, i did my first HITT training today. I know it was tough, but damn not this much lol. I've tried to do 7x20 secs sprints with max effort with resting perdiods between 1/1:30 minutes.
So, thank you all and sorry for the long testament.
Nice runs!
