There is a freshman on the sprints team who would like to join the xc team but feel she will develope slow twitch muscle.
She has zero experience in track or soccer and started the season at a 64.2 and has worked that time down to 59.1 in one season.
I felt that I could possibly move her up in distance to the 800. I previously did this with a girl who ran 63 freshman year and ran xc. She ended up running a 2:14 800.
The only thing that concerns me is that she has a lot of natural talent in the 400 and i don't want to ruin her "speed". Would moving up to the 800/running xc be a wise decision? Would her speed possibly would translate to 800/xc success? Or would xc ruin her "speed"?
