Hey guys,
Ill start off with some background: I am a 19 year old male who primarily focuses on long distance now after high school. In November, when I was 18, I ran my marathon PR of 2:53:16, but I think I should have been much faster than that.
I ran a 1:19:28 half marathon at the end of September prior to the race. During the marathon I was on pace for mid 2:48 before I bonked. I held a consistent pace the first 20 and just died at 23 with the last 3 miles at a 7:35 Pace.
I don't think mileage was an issue as my long runs were up to 24 miles and I was hitting around 70-75 miles in the month leading up to the race. In my first marathon at 16 I had a similar problem the last 4-5 miles and slowly trudged that one in at 3:06.
I want to know if there is anything differently I should be doing in training or any workouts to do to improve my last 10K of the race. I have Lehigh Valley, New York, and Boston coming up within the next year and I am hoping to go low 2:40s.
Also my Pr's if it helps:
1600m: 4:47
5000m: 16:43
8000m: 27:59
10000m: 35:26
Half-Marathon: 1:19:28
