My brother is 23 and started running June 2015. He has very little running experience (never ran at school or for a club) and built a good base through swimming. In the last 6 months he has run the following:
5km: 16.58
10km: 36:00
Marathon: 2.52 (last weekend)
He's running about 45 miles a week. I know he is no where near elite level but his times have surprised me.
Any similar stories out there? What could he run with more mileage and a coach?

With coaching he could probably shave that stache down to a 16:54. With upping the mileage he could probably shave that stache down to a 2:49. With adding in some hootie he could probably shave that stache down a solid 35:51.
Likely won't improve very much. For a newbie runner to run 45mi per week, that's a lot, so he's likely training pretty hard. He could likely get down to 16:45, 35:00 and 2:40-45 maybe.
