i don't think 200's are a good indicator for the 800m, unless you can do 12-16 at 29-30 on 30 seconds resti used to do 200's near the end of the season in high school with 200 shag jog with a teammate (60-90 seconds) in 24-26 seconds and we ran 1:55. if it feels smooth and strong and not straining, it's very meaningful. I split 49 in the 4x400mit's almost the end of the season, the short rest isn't as critical in May as it is in March.what the OP shoudl say is his 1600m time, his 400m time, and what types of workouts he can run. 4 x 400 in 60-62 seconds with short rest is a better indicator

I usually don't get out to fast in the 800 but i'm thinking about getting out hard and hanging on to the low 2 guys.. is this a good strategy? As of rn we're doing speed and i been hitting 200s under 30sec like 26+ with 200m jog recovery, 300s in 45-46 with 200m recovery. My PR is 2:06
That long recovery makes 200 interval pace meaningless as a predictor (although still worth doing, it's going to be something like your 400 pace). There are guys that can rep flying 26s on long rest who run 2:08 for 800, nevermind 2:04.
