In 3 days I'll be running a 5000m race. It's most likely my only chance to try to qualify for my national championships.
So 15:35 is 3:07 per km (about 5 per mile), and my training is going pretty well.
Some workouts I did were:
1) 12 x 300m with 1' rest - 49 low average (spikes were used)
2) 500m + 1km + 1,5km + 2km with 2' 3' and 4' rest - (1:30, 3:05, 4:40 and 6:10 (3:08 + 3:02)) (without spikes)
3) 8 x 600 with 1'30'' rest - 1'49'' average (pretty even splits) in a dirt 250m track without spikes
4) Today I did 5 x 1000m with 70 seconds rest - All were done in 3:04 with pretty much even splits. Without spikes as well.
Only the first one of the workouts was done with some company.
Today was very tough for me, last 600m were pure agony, most likely from the very short rest.
Been doing 1 hour long runs generally 4minutes/km and sometimes in the 3:50 range. Feel easy.
The standard was inicially 15:50 so 76 second laps, but now they upgraded it to 15:35 which is like 75 second per lap + a 35 last 200m.
So to conclude my post, is it possible to run 15:35 based on these?
Actual PR is 16:12 from last year in a solo race.
