I don't know how much they enjoy the yelling but they do it.
Small collegiate meets too. There was a WIAC mom who yelled "Way to go, (insert name)!" every single lap of the indoor 5000 when her daughter went past. EVERY FREAKING LAP! SAME PHRASE! I heard a teammate ask the runner once what she thought of her mom's "cheering." The young lady said "I don't know, I never hear the crowd anyway." Thank God the girl graduated and didn't come back to run unattached.
