Looks like Neely put in a solid 7 weeks of training leading up to Boston, but I don't understand why the last week was still relatively high volume? What is there to gain? Wouldn't she have been more fresh if she ran like half the volume over the final 3-4 days before the marathon? Why run 10, 9 and 6 miles for the final 3 days before the race? I bet she could have run faster with a sharper taper for those last few days.
