Agreed. Unless the OP is riding 14 miles of uphill... both ways...or super tough MTB trails, I don't know how it's taking him 100 min.
Even an out of shape rider could average 15 miles per hour on an average multi-speed bike.
Ha ha! This is why I love LetsRun!
Ok, I'll state the facts from my most recent commute (I have only done this commute twice so far).
Morning:
Cycle to train station 07:05 - 9.89miles in 38:45.
Cycle from train station to work 08:23 - 4.12miles in 17:31.
Evening:
Cycle to train station 17:29 - 4.00miles in 18:04.
Cycle from train station home 18:20 - 9.99miles in 46:26.
Bit of hail and rain on the uphill journey home... Yes, it is a bit miserable and it's not saving me any money until I get myself a travel card (train costs as much as my fuel) BUT I'm hoping I can lose a bit of weight doing this.
Like the idea about squeezing a run into the commute somewhere.... The challenge will be parking my bike somewhere it won't get stolen...
My theory is that the bike ride is pretty low stress so I should feel pretty fresh during my workouts.
