I ran a 5:08 this past Friday in the mile coming from a 5:20 that Tuesday. I also run the 4x8 before the mile. My splits were 1:15, 1:18, 1:16, 1:17. I can run a 2:16 800m. I have three weeks and three saturday meets left. What time should I aim for week by week? Could I break 5 by the end of the season in 3 weeks? I am a freshman in HS.
For speed work, we have been doing 4x300m repeats @ 56-58 then 8x200 @ 38-39 (once a week). We also have been doing 40m sprints/build ups (1-2 times a week). We have been doing this for about 2-3 weeks. Now that Tuesday meets are done we will probably incorporate more speed work with Tuesday open again for workouts. The rest of the week are easy/recovery days and Saturdays are meets.
