Ran a 20.46w (2.2) a couple of weeks ago as well. This kid has already voiced his intentions of running 19.9 over 200m and 44.x over 400m and it'll likely happen sooner than later.

Considering the fact that he's 16 means he's not all that amazing for a frosh. Fast but not amazing.
Last summer, when he should have been a frosh, he had PRs of 20.94 and 46.44
Granted, he should be a sophomore for his age, but even so: how often do you see a sophomore who can boast a 20.46w and a 45.94 before May? Close to none.
He's amazing AND fast.
If he gets down to 45.2, he'll be in the ballpark of top ten high school 400m all-time, at least according to TFN lists.

So, since you're the judge and jury, can you break down the list of 16 year olds who are better than him and push him down to just being "fast" rather than "amazing?" Looking through the last 5 years, I only see three athletes that are near his 100m time and none close to his 200/400m times.
Asking for a friend.

Agreed. What a complete douche. Only on Letsrun would this kid be called fast but not amazing.

lol, the lrc boards, where sub 46 for a 16yo is considered "fast but not amazing".
Doctor so how is life still running 1430s while pulling in well over 6 figures lol? Anything less would be fast but not amazing hahaha
I raced this guy in a 400m prelim in the beginning of the season... My gawd he ran 47 high and looked like he was jogging! Consider that his 45.9 was done in a REGIONAL meet with little competition, and it becomes apparent that sub-45.5 is not out of the question for him before he turns 17.
2000 birthday, like my kid. Perfect age for World Youths next year, in Nairobi. Fortunately not running the same event! Good luck to whoever is.
45.XX only GOOD for a 16yo? Ditto 20.6? It's bloody incredible. Another Christopher Taylor. Even if these guys are a year or two ahead of the growth curve, it's still incredible.
I wonder what he'll run at World Youths. I guess 100-200 or 200-400, both are a doable double if the programming is the same.
Incredible? World Youths? Not anymore.
Candace Hill and Michael Norman are planning to go to the Olympics. This year.
Hill, 10.98 at age 16. That would be #2 in the world this year, so far.
Michael Norman, 20.41 in a DUAL MEET at Great Oak. Don't ask for the wind reading. They don't even HAVE a wind gauge.
Norman 45.41, Noah Lyles 10.17 AND 20.48 at Arcadia
This isn't the incredible any more. This is the new normal. Kids are working harder and some of them have better coaching.

Norman is 2 yrs/4 mths older than Cooper ya dimwit.
They're all high school kids you dimwit.
It's still incredible. It is not normal for 16yos to be ranked 2 in the adult world.
So are kids training like adults at age 16? Is that what you're saying? Should they?
They would have to be early developers. The average 16yo boy is still growing and doesn't have their adult body yet. I'd suggest these guys must have developed ahead of the curve to be able to run those times, and do the work to run those times.

That would be amazing for a sophomore.
Michael Norman will be the next Olympic star. 10.27 100, 20.23 200, 45.19 400 (junior year 17 years old).

No way have we reached the day when those times aren't incredible. Just because someone (someone 2 years older) has exceeded them doesn't mean they aren't incredible. And they certainly aren't "normal."

You sure it's just "hard work" and "better coaching"? A trip to the local anti aging clinic seems to do wonders for improving athletic performance.

Are you suggesting age cheating? Surely he has a birth certificate - how would you manage that?
